Over 3,900 students are housed in on-campus living accommodations such as traditional residence halls, semi-suites, full-suites and apartments. Additional apartments will be available in the University’s new housing building opening in the fall of 2020.

The Village Fitness Center is an on-campus fitness center, professionally serving the faculty, staff, students and alumni of San Francisco State University.

On-campus housing at San Francisco State University is limited and in high demand and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. While living on campus is not required, it is also not guaranteed.

Pay in person at the Housing Business Office dropbox located outside the building at 800 Font Blvd. or at the Bursar’s Office located at the Student Services Building (SSB).

1. Go to housing.sfsu.edu/apply and click the Apply Now button to access the housing portal.
2. Log into the housing portal using your SF State ID number and password.
3. Fill out the application and click to accept the terms of the License Agreement.
4. Pay the initial fee.

3. Click on the term you wish to cancel.
4. Choose a reason for your cancellation and enter any details pertaining to your cancellation request.

San Francisco State does not guarantee housing to newly admitted students. Due to the high demand for housing spaces in San Francisco, the residence community fills quickly. It has a beautiful campus and offers plenty to do outside of Academics. The student population is a little bit too small. People react positively when I say I go to USF.

As of 2019, only 18% of unhoused San Franciscans reported addiction was the cause of their homelessness and 8% cited mental illness. Meanwhile, 63% said an inability to afford rent was the primary culprit; 11% of unhoused San Franciscans actually had jobs.

In the U.S., New York City is the most pricey to live in, followed by San Francisco—however, NYC is only #9 on the world’s most expensive cities.
