Larger quilts look more aesthetically pleasing on a bed. Luxurious and make the bed feel larger in the room. Generally, a larger quilt will result in greater warmth as there is less of a chance of cool air entering the quilt due to its heavier weight, and greater warmth retention properties.

Throw quilts are larger than lap quilt patterns. At a minimum, your throw quilt should be 40 inches wide and at maximum, it should be 80 inches long. Anything bigger or smaller is likely to be too small or too bulky. A good rule of thumb is to consider the height of the person using it.

A twin-size mattress has a length of 75 inches and a width of 38 inches. Twin beds are most commonly found in kid’s rooms and guest bedrooms. It is also the ideal size for bunk beds. The dimensions of a twin mattress can comfortably sleep one person, but the width is not designed for sleeping with a partner.
